What we’re building
The Digital DNA Project analyses a person’s photos, videos, and written works to construct a structured digital profile — something closer to a measurable “essence” than a simple tag set. We know what off-the-shelf tools can already do (face/emotion/scene detection, EXIF metadata, OCR). What we don’t yet have is the harder layer: aggregating that across years, tracking identity and emotional change over time, and fusing it with text and voice into one coherent profile.
That’s an open research and engineering problem, and we’re looking for volunteers who want to help figure it out from the ground up — not implement a finished spec.
Why volunteer
- A genuinely novel applied computer vision / ML problem, not a tutorial clone
- Real chance of research co-authorship — this builds on an existing IEEE publication track record (YOLOv8/YOLOv12 drone detection)
- A letter of contribution / reference from a registered NGO
- Fully remote, flexible, part-time
- Early enough that your design decisions actually shape the project

- Read the Contributor Brief — objectives, what’s feasible today, open questions
- Join the kickoff discussion and introduce yourself
- No commitment required just to weigh in on feasibility
A note on data: all open collaborative development uses small, synthetic, or public sample datasets — never real personal photos. Work on real archives happens separately, privately, and only with explicit consent.
